What has changed on Mahalo Answers during the past month?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Mahalo has launched Mahalo 2.0. In short, you can create and/or claim Mahalo pages and become their manager in exchange for advertising revenue.
CNET covers it well here.

Answers was more or less untouched by the changes, except our user profiles have been tied together with the main Mahalo site, something they were not previously. Answers did not experience many bugs as it was not part of the major update on the main Mahalo site. But there was some funkyness for a few days such as points and tips disappearing, but most bugs have been fixed. Some individuals are still reporting bugs, but they seem to be individual cases and not site-wide problems. Myself for example still can't see my direct question inbox and accept answers from within.
To begin with the new features, think of something you are an expect in and search of it on the Main site http://www.mahalo.com/ If we already have a page for that search term look for this logo and claim your page.

If we don't have a page can build it. To learn how to build check out this handy link How to Build a Mahalo Page.
If you have any questions just let me know.

M$The Pages can be about any topic and they can be claimed and managed by the Mahalo users. The amount of pages you can manage is determined by your belt ranking. The incentive for managing pages is that you can 50% of the revenue made from the ads on that page.
The Answers section is pretty much the same as before. You can ask and answer questions, and get tips if you are selected best answer.
The Tasks section is kinda like answers. Tasks such as writing a section for a page are posted there. You can claim the task and when you complete it, you get the tip.
As far as problems, yes there are a lot. There are still a lot of bugs that need to be fixed in this new version of Mahalo, but the basic usability is there. Some things are just a bit frustrating because they do not work as they should.
Anyway, welcome back!

M$First you say a lot has changed, then you say the Answers section is pretty much the same. This question asks "What has changed on Mahalo Answers during the past month?"
@albanian That's true, but I figured I would give a recap of all the new changes on the Mahalo site. I'm sure he would like to know about the pages and tasks sections also.
Right. Tasks work like questions, but they have their own tab section at the top.
Thanks for your help. Now that I look at it a little closer, answers does appear to be mostly unchanged, which is good. So, now Tasks will appear in an entirely different section of Mahalo instead of being submitted as questions, right? I was hoping that something like that would happen. Thanks for your help!
Evidently the development work went into features for Mahalo pages and their management, which is something quite different. Oh well, maybe I'll try to manage a page about beer or stout.

M$Go to the main page and type "What has changed with Mahalo"
A prompt will ask you about the type of question, you will complete the prompts and then claim the page. The system starts to assemble the page for you and allows you to add content to the page by selecting various automatic insertion section types.
Once the page has been generated, you can claim it, and start building style into the page. If the page already exists the page will not generate but you may be able to claim. If the page is claimed, you may be able to contribute to the page, for no points.

From How Mahalo Works
--quote---
As page manager, you will be required to make at least one significant contribution to your page every 10 days. If you do not make any significant edits to your page in 10 days, you will receive a warning by e-mail. After that, you have 5 days to make an edit. After 15 days, the page will be taken away from you and recirculated into our system.
A significant contribution would include things like adding a new section to the guide note, updating the material that is already there to include recent changes or submitting new and informative links. The page manager is also responsible for reviewing other users' contributions to their pages. Incoming alterations that make the page less informative, accurate or useful should be removed within a few days.

So if I manage a page and don't update it, Mahalo will revoke my management. How often does it have to be updated before this happens?
Jeff, I got excited and clicked on the CLAIM THIS PAGE BUTTON in the picture- I thought it was a new feature..
but it just took me to flickr..
is this a bug? :)
