What has been your worst "set versus set" experience in poker?

I just got stung this weekend by three 7's. I had three 6's.
This cost about 150 bucks in .5-1.0 NL.
This was after playing 10 hours live(Limit+NL).
Tip for best answer: M$5.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I was playing in a local 2-5 game that plays more like a 5-10 with a bunch of traders and professional players, so the game is pretty loose. (Min. Buyin $500)

I had built my stack up to $2,500 with good play and a little luck (quads, etc.).

I was on the button with 7 callers and had pocket 2s. I call. The small blind makes a moderate raise to $12 and almost everyone calls including myself. The flop is 7-5-2 rainbow.

Small blind bets about half the pot, there are two callers and I make a pot size raise. Small blind raises me and the other two callers fold.

I make another raise and he raises me again. That is when I should have known he had a set.

I go all-in and he instantly calls with his Set of 7s vs. my Set of 2s.

The only consolation was that everyone at the table said they would have lost their money.

Hands down (no pun intended), it was a flop of 455 and I was holding pocket fours. I went in lightly to draw some meat, and when a four came up on the turn, I went for the kill. The river is inconsequential, as my only remaining openent was holding pocket fives.

Four of a kind fours, lost all-in to four of a kind fives.

One day I had a double header of awful hands. I had pocket Kings and I went to bet. The guy to my right claimed that I had motioned for a check. I disagreed, but gave in when he complained and agreed to check. The next card that came up was a Queen, and I went all in right away. The guy called and he had pocket queens He'd made trips. I was pissed because the guy knew he was beat and just did that so he could get one more free card.

On the very next hand, I had 10 and 7 . The flop comes 10, 7, 7. I'm all in against another guy really fast. Turns up he has pocket 10s.

Ouch.

Mind you, I usually play poker online for fake money rather than real. I was playing Texas Hold 'Em and in my hand I had 7s over Qs. Well...the other player had Qs over 7s.

That BURNED me bad!
