What happens when someone reaches their Brown Belt Test but doesn't pass?

Are they allowed to continue contributing here?

What happens to the points they earn past the point of Brown Belt if they continue to fail the test?

What EXACTLY happens, overall?

I know this is one specifically for Mahalo staff, really, but I'd like everyone to be able to comment as well when I have some answers.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There is no rule that says you must have a brown belt, or continue progressing through the belt system, in order to remain active in Mahalo Answers. The belt tests are meant as a way to highlight some of the great contributions being made on Mahalo Answers, and to reward the people who work hard to make this a better site to have discussions and access information.

If someone is not awarded a Brown Belt, they will just remain a Purple Belt and everything else will continue like always.

I'd like to stress that the fact that someone has a certain belt level certainly doesn't mean they don't bring any value to the site. We have several great users we'd hate to lose who have, for one reason or another, not been progressing through the belt levels based solely on points.

It just means we've decided the belt level they are currently on best reflects their particular contribution. In all of these cases, we have spoken behind-the-scenes with that user about what they would need to do in order to move to the next level, so there is a strong effort to be transparent about the entire process.

Yes, that's it exactly. Once you're awarded a belt, it's yours to keep forever.

Would they remain a Purple Belt but carry on gaining points, then?
