Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Kidneys are vital organs in the body that play a major role in the excretion of waste products out of our system. The kidneys regulate blood pressure, maintain balance of electrolytes in the body, and maintain the acid-base homeostasis. We have to take care of our kidneys because once they are damaged, there will be a great disruption with its functions.

To maintain the good health condition of our kidneys, it is important to consume foods that are beneficial to this organ. Foods that contain high level of antioxidants neutralize free radicals and protect the body in general. People who are diagnosed with kidney problems are prescribed with renal diet. However, even if your kidneys are healthy, it is always good to eat foods that will protect the kidneys.

Examples of kidney-friendly foods are red bell peppers, cabbage, cauliflower, garlic, onions, apples, and fish. These foods contain right amount of electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus just enough to keep your kidneys healthy. It is also important to refrain from eating fatty and salty foods because they contribute to the development of kidney stones.
