Drink the wine you enjoy with the food you choose.
However if your a novice with wine pairing then it's best to consult a good wine/food pairing chart...or ask your wine salesman for suggestions.
White wines in general pair up nicely with both fish and poultry...but sometimes a paticular red wine will pair up quite well too, especially if its a wine that you enjoy.
Don't be afraid to experiment when pairing food with wine, over time you will educate your palete to the pairings that you enjoy best, and that is the best wine for the food...always.
Drink what you enjoy!
