What famous film directors or producers have come out of USC's film school?
My brother is thinking about going to film school. I would like to know if there have been many alumni from USC that have gone on to do great things or that have become famous within the profession. I have heard about USC's film program through word of mouth and most everyone says it's a good school, but I'm curious to see whether the statistics show this. What sorts of careers have people who have graduated from the film school gone into? Was it something other than directing or producing? Have some gone into acting? Film editing? Screenwriting? Are they making good money? I want the best for my brother and would like to make sure that if he does go to California, he gets the best training possible, in addition to the reputation of having graduated from USC.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

John Wayne was an alumnus of USC, but not of its film school (School of Cinematic Arts). (He studied pre-law and dropped out.)
It's hard to ascertain if the film school's alumni earn good money, but I think it's pretty safe to assume that they haven't gone hungry while pursuing the career of their choice. It's not fair, but in the real world, the most unskilled graduates of the most popular schools have a far easier time landing their typically good-paying dream jobs than the most skilled graduates of the most unknown schools.
