Hello @angeliz!
The leader of the band has lots of responsibilities. One of his role is to put the band together that will play music on stage. His major role is to choose musician who can also adapt various environments and other social contexts. He should see to it that the band will be able to give an excellent performance from a pub to a TVshow, wedding for royalty to a beach and other venues. The codes of conduct is very diverse which makes this profession even more exciting.
A band leader's role is universal and deals with management, PR, Marketing and publicity, recruiting, accounting, legalities, organization and scheduling of travel, sound equipment, engineering and lighting and also act as the musical director.
He is also one of the musicians in the band and the 'executive director' of business and often handle tasks outside the music and doing his part on stage as well as choosing repertoire, organizing rehearsals and searching for last minute replacements when the need arise.
