A Monopoly is when you have a set of properties, railroads or utilities. On properties you can puts houses or a hotel on it to increase the amount of rent other players have to pay. On the video game, with a monopoly alone it increases the rent before you even add houses or hotels (not sure if it's the same in the board game). Also something I have noticed in certain modes on the video game, if you have a Monopoly another player cannot steal one of your properties, however if you have to give them a property then you will have to break up your Monopoly. You will know if you have a Monopoly if there is a gold border around 2, 3 or 4 properties (depending on which you have)

I disagree - just because it was asked from that page, doesn't mean thats EXACTLY what the question is about. The main question is "what does monopoly do", nothing about cheats.
Thats just my opinion though.
