What does ''wii'' stand for?

Tip for best answer: M$0.11
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Wii in fact stands for we as you can see from the official Wii explanation from Nintendo:

"Introducing ... Wii.
As in "we....
While the code-name "Revolution... expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.
Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.
Wii will put people more in touch with their games ... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like "we,... which emphasizes this console is for everyone.
Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive "ii... spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.
And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.
So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.
Because, it's really not about you or me.
It's about Wii.
And together, Wii will change everything."

I know that Wii is the console from Nintendo. I gave the explanation that Nintendo gave for why they named the console Wii and the significance of the name.I guess that I forgot to mention the basic that Wii is the console given that it is so popular.

You are so very close. The pronunciation of "Wii" is the same as that of "we". However, Wii does not actually stand for we. Instead, Wii is the proper name of Nintedo's current video game console.

The word Wii is the proper name for Nintento's current generation console which was released in 2006 and, as of the Spring of 2010, is still in active production.

The Wii console used what some consider to be an innovative remote control technology. The remote, sometime called the Wii-mote, utilizes infrared technology to determine what part of your screen it is pointed at. In addition, it makes use of some fine motor accelerometers to determine things like movement speed and direction. Some game can translate this information into realistic movement and contact within games. For example, Wii Sports (bundled with every Wii console) contains several sports games. These games all involve arm motions. When you swing hard while playing golf, so will your Mii (your in game Avatar) and the ball will go far. Conversely, when you swing gently, so will the Mii, and the ball will not roll very far.

At this time, I have been unable to find any pre-existing definitions for the word Wii online.
