You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Noel originally meant "new birth" or "month of the birth" apparently alluding to the Christ child. There are a few possibilities of it's linguistic origin, from Hebrew, Latin and French. Noel also means Christmas song and a Noel singer is one who sings Christmas songs.

The song called "Noel" is popularly thought to refer to the glad news of the New Birth, a joyous religious event.

Noel (also spelled Nowell or Noël) is an alternative word for Christmas. It first entered the English language in the 14th century. The word comes from Middle English noel, which derives from the Old French word noël and its more common form naël. The English spelling "Noël" is taken directly from modern French, which also derives from the Old French. The ultimate Latin origin is the phrase nātālis (diēs), "(day) of birth".

The word Noel is a French word for Christmas. It is also used as a name for males while the feminine form is spelled Noelle. It is derived from the Latin word natalis meaning nativity. Hope this helps!
