What do your Thanksgiving meals consist of?

What do you eat? Who cooks it, or do you get Boston Market?
Tip for best answer: M$1.01
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Every year I cook or help cook, we usually have ham and turkey for meats, deviled eggs (Kids favorite), several vegetables like collard greens, green beans with bacon, and corn on the cob. We also have lasagna because my husband is Italian, we have baked macaroni and macaroni salad. Sometimes we also have potato salad. For desert there is cake (made by my soon to be Bakery Chef and 12 year old daughter) and if we are particularly fiesty we may have apple pie and icecream. We put out a large spread because we are such a large family.

Our Thanksgiving is usually comprised by a wide variety of types of food.

I have a friend's family that i join for their midnight feast going in to Thanksgiving. I usually get to his mother's house at about 11pm on Wednesday and get ready for a family tradition that they have the night before Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. I usually only get to join them for the Thanksgiving midnight feast.

His family is split between Scottish, German, Russian and Chinese heritage. The feast going in to Thanksgiving is a mix of all of these different nationalities. At midnight, everyone (usually about 20 people) sit down for a main course of haggis, chinina, egg rolls, rice, duck, and steak. My friend's parents own a catering company, so they have more than enough stoves to cook everything. In their are, though, mostly their employees cook the meals now.

For breakfast, my wife an I have a tradition of eating belgian waffles and cinnemon rolls. It is my job to cook these. We will ea them while we watch the parades on TV.

We go to my sister-in-law's house for an early Thanksgiving dinner. This is a straight Thanksgiving meal with all of the traditional parts like turkey, stuffing, mashed pots, rolls and such.

Usually, a poker game will start up soon after the meal is over. Around eight in the evening, we will break down and buy a bunch of pizzas to carry us through the late night of play.
