What do YOU use apple cider vinegar for?

I have always used apple cider vinegar for sore throats. Simply gargle once an hour for eight hours and the sore throat is gone, every time in this house. I have been reading so much on the many uses of apple cider vinegar. You can cook with it, use it for many home remedies and so on. What do YOU use apple cider vinegar for?

I have heard of many uses for apple cider vinegar as well, but have only used it for a few different things. One is to treat canker sores. I applied a little to a sore twice a day and in a few days the sore was gone. Generally the canker sores last a week to two weeks without any treatment.

Another thing I know it's good for it weight management, cholesterol and trigylcerides. I haven't ever drank the apple cider vinegar for these purposes. Instead, I take apple cider vinegar tablets. I take 200 mg tablets 2 or 3 times a day and have noticed great improvement.

I will have to try the remedy for a sore throat. I am not sure how the taste will be, but even if it leaves a bad taste in the mouth it will be worth it to get rid of a sore throat in a single day. Thanks for the tip!

My mother and I use a great deal of apple cider vinegar for canning. We have some recipes for pickles and ketchup that call for this type of vinegar. We didn't do any canning this year. We will definitely miss that this winter.

Some other uses that I have used it for include: hair treatments and rinses, to remove odors and treating sunburns.

I know it has great health benefits, but I haven't looked to much into them. I know a couple that takes 2 teaspoons of it everyday. They started this after they watched a story about one of the oldest women alive. The lady took a 2 teaspoons of it everyday. I know it's suppose to be good for high blood pressure and cholesterol. I really need to look into that more.

I use apple cider vinegar in sloppy joes, sweet and sour cabbage, and duck soup (a polish recipe). Since the taste of vinegar is so strong and overbearing, I only use a few drops at a time. In sloppy joes, I think the vinegar absolutely gives it the correct taste. But of course, that's based on the sloppy joes my mother made. Anytime I think about any "sweet and sour" recipe, I automatically think of vinegar.

I use cider vinegar it for pickling, as well. Recently, I came across a premixed pickling
spice mix, "Mrs. Wages" that you add to vinegar and water for making dill or bread and butter pickles. The recipe calls for white vinegar, but I ran out. I used cider vinegar instead, and actually prefer the pickles in the cider vinegar.

I had a roommate who tried to drink a half cup of cider vinegar every day. Someone told her that it would help her lose weight. We never found if that was true, since she could only tolerate for 3 days. By the 4th day, she muttered some obscenities and opted to try to find a different diet. I haven't thought about that for a very long time, and so I thought I should check to see if it was true. I found that in the 1820's, cider vinegar became the rage when popular English poet, Lord Byron endorsed vinegar's benefits. And I also found that there have been many diets that include taking two to three tablespoons of cider vinegar before eating. Many of the companies that distribute dietary aids now offer vinegar in a pill form. The acidity of the vinegar is thought to help break down fat.

I found so many other uses, ranging from clearing up acne, to lowering blood pressure, and curing gout (which I have). I don't use it for anything other than cooking right now, but now that I know what else I can use it for, I'll certainly keep it in mind!

Personally i don't use it for anything. But throughout the years it has been a cureall for everything. It is used as a diuretic for soildiers, it has been used for weight loss and changng the blood alkaline. It has also been tested for people with type 2 diabeties. I am sure there are hundreds of more uses for it and somewhere someone doesn't let it turn to vinegar and drink it as apple liquor.
