How this guy gets called 'the best rapper alive' and gets honored with magazines saying this is the best album of the year is completely beyond me. There is so much better hip-hop out there that puts this guy to shame.

In pop music, it has to be "Circus" by Britney Spears.
In hip-hop/R&B, I'd say it was "Universal Mind Control" by Common; Gnarls Barkley's "The Odd Couple" was certainly up there as well.
In the classic overhype, I'd go with Brian Wilson's "That Lucky Old Son." Hang it up Brian.
In modern rock, I'd have to go with "Day & Age" by The Killers... how can anything they do not be overrated now? I'd love to say Nickelback, but no one expects them to be good.
In indie rock circles, Vampire Weekend's eponymous album was an overrated disappointed, as well as REM's "Accelerate."
Guns n Roses "Chinese Democracy" had to be the most overhyped album of the decade to be released in 2008.
