What do YOU think of Yahoo's purchase of Associated Content - as a Mahalo community member? Or, based on your experiences...

...with the two other entities.

I can't imagine that I will be swayed by the new combination. But, I know that some here have their own experiences with Yahoo Answers and/or Associated Content. Any insights?

P.S. I will be unable to select a Best Answer for this question - it will be decided by your "helpful/unhelpful" votes on the answers. Please vote! (On this AND on other Q's/A's!)

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

As a pretty long term and still active member on associated content I can say their contributors (not myself included) are in a hissy. Some bad reporting put out the story yahoo intends to close AC which AC is saying is entirely untrue, most of their contributors are already talking about jumping ship, at least the active forum members. I think handling it slower would have been better. Apparently AC's founder didn't even tell his staff until hours before he announced it to the world. They were unprepared, their contributors were blind sided and as usual bad communication was all around.

Personally I could care less. I write for AC yes, as long as AC pays I'll continue to do so no matter who owns them. I'd say the same for Mahalo.

Bad communication is ALWAYS AC's move, they are horrible beyond belief about communicating with their contributors. It was one of the main reasons I switched to Mahalo as my primary work site, they communicate.

Thanks for the insights, unwirklich. "Bad communication" was not a wise move on the part of the AC management. It'll be interesting to see what happens next.
