What do you think of the new Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic MMORPG by Bioware?

Lucas Arts and Bioware are confirmed to be making a third installment in KNights of the Old Republic and it will be a mmorpg. So far it is only announced for pc and there are no dates but there is plenty of speculation. I for one loved both previous games and will no doubt love the third one. I am curious to see how they make it into a mmorpg (massively multi-player online role playing game) and keep the elements that made the first games so much fun. Bioware is responsible for making games like Mass Effect, Jade Empire, Balder's Gate, Neverwinter Nights etc. What are your thoughts?

I think it was inevitable, and figuring how good the KOTOR games were and that it's by Bioware, it can't be too bad. It really depends what the payment scheme will be if I figure I'll play it. I read something about microtransactions, so if that means I pay for the game, but I only have to pay extra for special things (not subscription fees), I might actually play it. The other option would be for it to be on XBox 360 and play over Live. I don't think that's how it is, but maybe. I don't play too many games on the PC anymore. I like sitting on the couch, with my feet up and my big plasma TV. I'm probably not alone in that.

I am excited. KOTOR1 and KOTOR2 built on the outstanding track record of Bioware adapting a d20 D&D style system to full featured and dynamic RPG's. I am a sucker for a good RPG and always have been. I have a feeling that this MMO project is going to be the definitive word on Star Wars as experienced in any type of game.

The only thing I take issue with, and it's a small but is their plan to utilize a micro-transaction system. While the MMO itself will be free, there will items that degrade which can only be purchased which are not available to the free user population. I understand this business model but for me personally, if the game is as fantastic Bioware's previous titles, then I'm willing to overlook it and I would probably even pay a couple bucks for a lightsaber.

i remember playing the first two kotor games, gaining levels steadly progressing as the bigger story unfolded infront of me. It made it all the worth while when you got to hit that certain climax to where every thing you've been working for hits that conclusion that you been working so hard for.
there are many give and takes to making it a mmorpg versus just playing han solo with your self. playing solo, gives more depth to the story and more meaning to when you finally reach the end. where as playing on a grander scale with more people lengthens the game play and adds on to the fun of playing with friends, but takes away from the story.
it all just depends on what sort of gamer you are for you are for this to be your cup of tea or not.

Bioware is a great company, they've never made a bad game in my opinion. And star wars is awesome. So it should be good!
