Of course it passed, let's not confuse the media hype percieved controversy with what is really going on, I don't think there is any major controversy going on yes it probably will pass in the senate as well. Everyone agrees that health care needs to be reformed the disagreement is just on how to do it. Obama could have already put this through. As a person who will be on of the almost 50 million people affected by this I am glad that finally the united states is catching up with the rest of the world, the us is operating with a system that is almost from the dark ages, the people who need health care the least seem to get it and the people who need it the most don't what kind of nation does not take care of it's sick! Just terrible to think of all the people who will die this year because they don't have access to health care. And all this media hype over the high cost.....has anyone really taken the time to see how high the cost is for 50 million americans to wait until they have to go to the emergency room for a minor disease that could have been prevented with an inexpensive check up, the taxpayers money is already going to pay for all of these emergency room visits, now it will actually go to prevent disease. The USA is the only, I repeat ONLY industrialized nation on planet earth that does not have some kind of a public health care policy for the poor or jobless or thoise who can't afford health care. For every other civilised country in the world the right to healthcare is a basic human right, Roosevelt was actually going to add this right in his famous second bill of rights, if he did not die before enacting this second bill of rights this world would be a very different place.....the argument is not about how much money will it cost to end suffeing the argument is why are we letting people suffer when we have more money than any other country.

I am surprised that the bill passed the House. After observing the antics in the legislature the last several years, I wasn't sure they could actually accomplish anything on this scale.

The bill passing in its current form through the senate is unlikely. Joe Lieberman has stated that he would filibuster the legislation. The 60 votes needed to end the filibuster would probably force Harry Reid to make significant changes to the bill in order to pass.

Ultimately , I think some form of health care bill will pass the Senate, but I expect it will be a much watered down version of the current bill.

I don't know why it passed considering all the controversy over it.

I think the American people should be able to vote on this proposal ourselves considering the magnitude of the situation and proposed changes. This should not be left up to our legislature alone because many of them have vested interests in getting their agendas attached to the bill and passed. I also think that the health care bill should be in a form that is clearly and easily understood by the American people since we are the taxpayers who are funding it and will be the ones required to use this new health care system.

I think the bill will be up for a fight in the senate considering the shear number of Americans who hold strong opinions on this issue. Now, as far as if it will pass or not, I think it might, but not without opposition and protest.
