What do you think of Calacanis' quote? "Sexy and efficient. Like me." ????

Of course, there are other perks with electric vehicles besides maybe saving the planet. Jason Calacanis, a tech entrepreneur and friend of Musk's who bought three of his Roadsters, was standing outside Musk's Los Angeles plant shortly after the Model S press conference. Calacanis said his Roadster turns heads.

"One time a cop pulled me over just to ask about it," Calacanis said. He was on his way to the airport, where he could park in a $30-a-day lot for free, a perk for all-electric vehicle drivers. "It's sexy and efficient. Like me."

Theres some fun here, definite positivity. The first part is an assertion of the good usually considered mutually exclusive- "sexy" and " efficient". This apparent contradiction should only exist in the minds of those truly endeavored to maintain the status quo, and he's playing his part in breaking that barrier.

Remember when efficient homes were considered unnecessarily expensive and burdened by bizarre tech? Same deal with these cars. They need early adopters to believe in them, those who can afford to fund the technology, and display it's advantageousness- or at least simply claim it's coolness. Lastly, it seems like he was pledging allegiance to this sort of new thinking, to combine paradigms rarely thought of.

Are there more informative words or statements he could have chosen? Possibly, rattling out efficiency and power and such. But why would he do that when he could make the more passionate and pragmatic statement concerning how cops pop him just to check it out and he parks at SFO for free. Honestly, those are the sorts of things he may be better qualified to relate, rather than acting as a tech fanboy. It's the approach that made apple inc what it is rather than Microsoft. Of course Jobs (and jason) is nuts for hardware and code... but it's gotta be functional. He speaks to function, not phantom specs, and his customers love it. The specs just describe the tool, though relating the cop and such describes the experience, which is endorsement which can't be objectified or bought.

I think that kind of attitude is what it's going to take to push forward the all electric movement. I think we need funny quotes and memorable taglines to help it spread. People like funny.

Speaking from a woman's viewpoint, we generally don't find "efficiency" sexy. We like our men (or women) to take their time and put a little extra energy into things.

I think he needs to take that $30 he saved and buy his wife some flowers. I could make other suggestions, but I'm really trying to stay on the high road here--and I'm finding that difficult to do!

Hmm, didn't know that electric cars came with a soundtrack:

I have all these comments I'd love to make about his ego, but I'm afraid if it burst the rush of hot air could cause massive damage throughout L.A. and really, they have enough problems as it is.

(So this is what the low road looks like....always wondered...)

Feel free to fire back, Jason.

Hate the game, not the player.

Honestly, it grabbed my attention. If I didn't know you who were, I'd be like, "Who is this guy?" Since I do know who you are, when I saw your name in the article, it reminded me that I hadn't logged on in a while and so here I am. And I've got a bunch of great questions that I'll be posting.. but not tonight. I have a newborn and I'm way too tired.

Oh and Darcy, that whole comment there proves that you DO hate the game. I don't think you hate the players though.

I've never understood that statement. I mean, who's to say I don't hate both? Besides, saying it isn't your fault because you're just playing the game is like saying "It's not my fault, I just shot the gun." We all have the responsibility to make good moral choices.

Not saying you don't, you know I love ya, I just had to get on a soap box for a minute.

I was being ironic. Obviously I'm not Kanye West or anything. I'm just "a dude who builds websites" at the end of the day. I like to be a little bombastic in the press in order to get attention for my projects. In fact, I'm playing the role of "internet CEO" when I do these press interviews.

my life is, in fact, fairly mundane. i like to watch Law & Order with my wife and two dogs after making a big plate of linguine with clam sauce.

"Sexy and Efficient"

Efficient is a given for both. If nothing else, both the Tesla and JCal could be described as efficient. The Tesla is a top performing car that uses electricity efficiently. Mr. Calacanis is a serial entrepreneur who has succeed by using the resources at his disposal efficiently.

Sexy on the other hand is completely subjective. It could be true.... but I haven't seen either of them in person (and I'm into women) so I may not be properly qualified to answer this question.

Come on, @robbrown. You can be a man and still appreciate good looks in men. It doesn't make you less of a man...

Now... About JC's "sexiness"? Let's just say... He should be glad he has lots of money...

POW! Thank you! I'll be here all week... *runs away quickly*
