What do you think is the next big thing in technology?

Right now if you want a nice setup you need a blu-ray player, a Tivo, a big hard drive to play your home videos, stored videos (like ripped DVDs and purchased iTunes shows) from, a computer to watch Hulu and other online streaming services from, a slingbox to watch TV on the go, and probably a game console too.
For years geeks have been able to roll that all into one system (eg. MythTV) and device makers are starting to go in that direction. See the Apple TV, the couple of TVs that run Android, Roku boxes and the appearance of Netflix streaming on gaming consoles (and a few TVs). It's still a patchwork of mediocre combinations and products that do one or two things very well.
Sooner or later someone is going to package it all up nicely in a format that cable companies will hate but end up selling, and which your average parent can manage to plug into their TV and setup without breaking a sweat.

M$Think about pulling up any media - book, music, video - anywhere, any time on any device. Or the opposite - sending something you've written, created or recorded to anyone anywhere anytime. You won't need physical media like blu-ray and you won't even need a relatively large harddrive. This is actually why Apple is reluctant to add blu-ray to Macs and why Microsoft is reluctant to add blu-ray to the xbox... they're pushing the cloud for content delivery... once 4G wireless is reliable, connectivity will be through the roof and I'd be really surprised to have a need for physical media under most occasions.

M$The technology is already in early stages and looks very promising. Once the big companies come up with ways to monetize it, they will further develop and mainstream it.
