What do you think Google will do this year? What new and exciting things are they going to bring to the WWW?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It's my belief that Google will move heavily towards cloud computing and similar concepts that move all of our information into the cloud in conjunction with some other principle concepts that work with Google. I also believe the best businesses and ideas were not built at or did they originate from Google.
Google Maps
YouTube
Blogger
Google Earth (formerly Keyhole)
Grand Central
Dodgeball
I truly believe there is something missing from Google. I know that there is a long ways to go with Google, yet there are some great search engine concepts that have innovated in ways that Google will not innovate.
Keep an eye out for the Project 10 to the 100, and I see this being where Google goes to grab their next big ideas! This is just the beginning.
My thoughts.

M$From the search aspect of things, Google will continue to test its Search Wiki and see how people use it and how they respond to it.
These two things will be crucial to Google in 2009
I work in Web Marketing, so I keep in touch (kinda)

M$I do hope Google starts more of a focus on Chrome... the foundation of a great browser is there but it still is just not enough to convince me to leave Firefox.
It would also be nice if Google would start looking at some of the amazing web startups that have come about over the last year and consider bringing them into the fold instead of trying to copy their functionality. With Chrome Google is poised to make the leap from the Internet to our Desktops and integration of the best of the web is vital!
Android:
1. Expect a second generation of the platform,
2. More cell companies deploying Android phones.
3. Improved resources for new developers.
Chrome:
1. The first Mac OS X beta.
2. Either the Google toolbar, or they will add some of its functionality into the browser.
3. Apple will start using some of the Chrome WebKit contributions into Safari.

M$The introduction of Android is a great chance for them to do this. Now that the product is not just vaporware people will want functions and services that outdo Windows Mobile and the iPhone. Google is well on their way to offering a phone that can do this but if they continue to stretch the great minds they hire too thin many ideas may never see the light of day.

Thanks, and yes many of those concepts that were predicted last year are where Google is headed, yet very few know what is next for Google... I was not kidding when I said Mahalo certainly could be bought outright by Google, but the Google founders always believed in crawling the web with robots instead of the human editing factor, yet they recently introduced Google Knol http://knol.google.com which is similar to Mahalo and Wikipedia. This is very interesting because someone at Google eventually thought they should go in this direction. The Google founders may not have saw this as their vision, yet they are doing some interesting work with the SearchWiki as well.
