What do you think about Senator Max Baucus nominating his own girlfriend for US Attorney?
Does she deserve the nomination, or is this just favoritism to the worst degree?

To be fair, I don't know anything about Ms. Hanes' qualifications, and I couldn't find much in a casual search. I did find that she was one of three people nominated, and she voluntarily excused herself from consideration.
As for Mr. Baucus... Ethical or not (and I'm leaning toward not), that nomination showed poor judgment, as anyone who knows politics should have seen this coming. Between this apparent conflict of interest and his lighting-rod status in the health care debate, I imagine he's going to have a FUN time in the next election.
