What do you think about Scott Walker and his attitude about...?

Recently the $810 million that was supposed to go towards a high speed rail in Wisconsin has been taken away. Scott Walker told Wisconsinites that he may be able to get congress to agree on using that money towards crumbling roads and highways (which is still noble).

He still considered it a 'victory' that the $810 million did not go towards the high speed train, because it was considered by him 'runaway' government spending. He still considered a victory that the money is now leaving Wisconsin and never going back.

What he did not consider was all the jobs that will not be created anymore. That $810 million was going to go to people who need it. It would have created a lot of short term jobs, and many long term jobs. That money is now gone. You can't create jobs without money.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

This was a major issue when Scott Walker was campaigning for the governor's seat which he was elected into.
He kept his promise to the people of Wisconsin, who elected him, by rejecting the Federal funding offered to the state for the construction of a high speed rail line between Milwaukee and Madison under the constraints that the Federal government placed on such funding.
He rejected the funding on the grounds that such a high speed rail line would not be self-sufficient and therefore would, in the long term, be a deficit to the state.
This high speed line would of only been an 85 mile section and any jobs it would of generated would of only been a short term situation and not create any long term self-sufficient jobs.
In my opinion he did the fiscally responsible thing by rejecting this funding regardless of the short term infusion it would of given the state.
Scott Walker is looking at the long term situation for his state and doing what more politicians are going to have to do sooner or later...face the facts that out of control spending on irresponsible projects by the government has to stop!

I still think it's sad that the US has fallen off the charts when it comes to national rail service.
I wish we could easily travel anywhere in the US by rail.

I recently found out that rail service doesn't even come down to Mobile, AL. anymore.
Tisk, tisk. Everything has been governed by the automobile. Sad but true.
