What do you think about people who buy fancy clothing, wear it once, then return it to the store?

I was surprised to learn than one in three women do this! They even have a name for it... they "freestyled". I can't imagine hiding the tags while wearing something then returning it... and frankly, it makes me think twice about the clothes I am buying... has someone already worn them and returned it? Where would you draw the line?

Here's the article I saw...

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

To me, it is a dishonest practice and is just the same as stealing. While someone may be able to "get away" with returning a used clothing item due to liberal store return policies, it is likely the store will not be able to sell the item at full price. There will probably be signs the clothing is worn when a garment is inspected further. Small stains, tears and even a 'ring around the collar' will let customers know a product is not new. The store may have to put the clothing on the discount rack or donate it if the condition is bad enough. What does this mean? The store will have to keep prices higher for other honest customers. Basically, if you can't afford it, don't buy it. If you need something special only for one night- look for a rental. Don't 'work' the system just because you can.

You have just stolen from the store or the manufacturer depending on their agreement. By law in all States clothes cannot be sold again once it leaves the store. I will assume you are talking high end clothes as who would do this with cheap stuff. So a high end store will throw out the garment and write it off on their taxes at the end of the year. So now you have really stolen from the other taxpayers. So basically besides being cheap, trashy and a fake you are also a thief.
