I like to go out in early morning and walk along the beach just close enough for the water to lap at my feet. Most people know you find the best seashell treasures in the early morning. It's also cooler and the beach is less crowded. I enjoy watching the fishing boats & sail boats as they disappear over the horizon.
In the late afternoon I enjoy going back to the beach to comb the waters edge for more treasures and watch the boats come back to shore or the pier. The sounds of the water crashing against the beach become stronger and the waves creep further up the beach washing away sandcastles and items left behind by beach visitors (flip flops/ beach balls, floats). Sometimes I've tried to catch the items and toss them inland. In the latter part of the afternoon or early evening it's fun to go out on the dock or pier and try your hand at catching crab for dinner. As the sun begins to set I sit listening to the sound of the water and the peacefulness. My sense of smell and hearing are so much more sensitive and my body quivers with an inner peace and joy that I feel only when I am here. I've never been on a ship or boat on the gulf or ocean (fearful of motion sickness). I feel at peace, at one with the world when I am here. My problems seem small and worries seem so distant when I am here.
I've always dreamed of owning a cottage on the beach or at least nearby and I haven't let go of that dream yet.
