What do you do to get out of a bad mood?

I have been a bit blue lately. Not sure why, summer is finally here and I do not have anything obvious on my mind that would get me down.

What do you do to get out of a bad mood? What can I do to get out of this funk?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

When I am in a bad mood I like to engage in escapist behaviors like @bullitshot but mine might be of a different nature. When I feel awful I first say this to myself @buddawiggi "You feel this way right now but you will not always feel this way, some times you will feel much worse than this, other times you will feel much much better than this". I derive balance and perspective from that statement to self.

Then I am off to find what I like to call "polite distractions" and they can be a few different things; movies, video games, homework, books, research, helping others, fishing, etc and I have even taken recently to exploring outside my comfort zone for some quality escapism and have been enjoying math and music like classical, opera, and jazz as a way to get my mind off what is troubling me.

I think the basic nature of this polite distraction escapism will work for anyone but the actual activities engaged in to get oneself outside oneself might vary from person to person. Two things that many of my polite distractions have in common is "new" and "change" as in they at least start out as something I have never done before.

I think for me it is this newness and a sense of adventure that really pulls me into the new activity and therefore..... out of my mind funk bad mood mumbo jumbo house of cards wreck of a brain disaster area that the space between my ears gets itself into every now and again. :)
