Invariably I can cook something fairly quickly. Slice some bread (I make my own), scramble a couple of eggs in a bowl, dredge the bread through the eggs then fry on a griddle, and he'll eat French toast any time of day. Pull out the flour, butter, sugar, an egg, some fruit, and make blueberry muffins. He'll eat those any time of day. Peel or slice fruit, and he'll eat that. Fix a plate of leftovers and nuke it and he'll eat that.
When he goes away to college next month, they'll feed him in the campus food service much of the time. He'll probably gain weight, but I've warned him about that. When he comes home, I'll feed him some, but I'll do more of what I've been doing this summer, I'll work with him and teach him how to make a few things.
Just because the finished food isn't right there in the fridge to eat (instant gratification) doesn't mean it takes long to have something ready.

I have a few things around that are always good for impromptu meals. I buy tortillas in bulk and freeze them a few at a time in plastic bags. My daughter used to get many types of leftovers, mix them into something that resembled a "breakfast burrito" and cook it up. Her brother isn't so creative, but I can take those tortillas and add a meat and some cheese, some onion or peppers, etc, and make quesadillas. Can't put too many ingredients and you have to have enough cheese to hold it together, but they always seem to come out good. And sometimes all it takes is a few bites of something like this and he can wait for the rest of the meal that might take longer. Works for me, also.

M$I like to create circumstance from actual circumstance.
Do I ..
1) Go to to grocery store and get some things I like. (created circumstance)
2) Go out to eat. (created circumstance)
3) Lower my standards of what is acceptable. (actual circumstance)
4) Go hungry. (actual circumstance)
My willingness to do any of these available options will depend on a few different factors like available money, meal time company, time of day, how far down my standards would have to go, available time, etc.
I like to take control of scenarios where the control is there to be responsibly taken so in this circumstance I think I would be leaning to using options (1) and (2) first as this important question/scenario is just begging to be taken control of so if I had the means then I would pick (2) "Go out to eat" first but if not then I would (1) "Go to the grocery store" and if my ways and means were incompatible with either of those options then of course option (3) "Lower my standards" would be the next logical choice and lastly option (4) "Go hungry" would be the last resort.

M$I'm hoping you are simply bored with food in your fridge and not lacking for food. If you indeed are out of work and in need of food, contact your local emergency services to ask where the nearest soup kitchen is located or if they have other provisions. You can also contact local churches, most are usually willing to provide food to those in need.

M$I wish Sam's Club hadn't fired all of the sample ladies and outsourced their sample department. You know what that means - to make a profit, the outsource folks pay less and offer no benefits. So if the former sample folks (not just ladies, but mostly) want to work for them, they earn less and don't have benefits they might have had before. It was a slap in the face to them for Sam's to do that. IMHO.
Good idea. But I'm always nervous about trying samples because they know I'm not going to buy the product. I'm just there for the food. :]

M$-make something to eat (raid the pantry)- you can't do that if you are lazy
-go buy or order something to eat - you can't do that if you don't have money
-invite a buddy to visit you, let him/her bring something to eat - you can't do that if you don't have friends
If you cannot do any of the above, I think you should SLEEP, if you're in luck maybe you will dream that you are eating food and you will wake up not hungry. If you're not hungry, you just have a habit of looking inside the fridge, kick the habit...lol.peace.

M$In the worst case, I will have to use the local food bank. But that is the worst case scenario.

M$I am so tired of cooking the same things over and over again.
I move from the fridge in the kitchen to the freezer in the garage then to the pantry. That goes on from about 10am till about 4 pm when I decide what I want to do.When all else fails,I call the Pizzaria for pizza and wings.
Most of the time I end up cooking the same few things.UGH!!!

M$Maybe you should change that habit from "look -> eat" to "look -> clean!" ;)
FUNNY PIC, @bunnyphuphu. Hope it's not happening, if not you will have "Cold Cat" (not Cold Cuts) hahaha...lol.
Don't forget to check the fridge doors. I often forget about many yummy things there!
I've made it a habit. I look in the fridge even when I'm not hungry.
So if there's nothing to eat in the fridge #1 would be improvise with what's in the pantry
#2 would be go to the store and get more stuff and
#3 - going to a friend's house / mom's house to eat as some of the people have suggested
Lately as a single person I find it harder and harder to make a meal. I'm so bored to cook for one person. My last room mate asked me if I was a "raw foodie" which I am NOT, because all she saw me eating was yogurt, peanut butter, cottage cheese. . . it was because it's dull to cook for one. Anything I eat I'm stuck eating for lunch and dinner the next two days! I find many of my single friends have this problem so when I get the chance I go over and cook for them, not as a date, just to have something more fun to eat
