What do you call the service by which you have your voicemail send alerts to your mobile phone as e-mails?

I'm not even sure what I'm asking, but if you figure it out, please let me know!
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There's no such service but it is a feature of the voicemail service called the voicemail alerts. It can send alerts via email or SMS whenever new messages arrives on the voicemail inbox.

Voicemail transcribed and sent as a text message. I use skype-out as my business phone and they offer this as a service with Spinvox. Link to spinvox included.

I've contemplated it as I can see its usefulness but I've always shy-ed away as its relatively expensive.

yes it is Visual Voice mail. Some of the new smart phones support this feature and ATT and Sprint provide this service on some of their flagship phones.

The legacy voice mail system is a sequential access system in which you need to go through all the voice mails to listen to the latest one.

The Visual voice mail is an awesome feature - random access system - which displays the voice mails like text messages and access/play any message randomly.

If you have a smart /PDA phone and dont have visual voice mail feature, you can try youmail from the link below if supported.

I have tried this on my windows mobile 5 device and it works using call forwarding - slightly different than the actual Visual voice mail. But there is on more feature that it can transcribe your voice mail and send it as an email message. Try it for yourself since it is free. Check if there are any charges for call forwarding on your phone.

Now I have a Samsung Instinct S30 and I like the Visual voice mail feature.

My original answer was focused on Visual voice mail for wireless phones relevant to your question. Further to this, all the Internet Telephony (VoIP) service providers offer a similar service where you can listen to your messages accessing your account online or and also you can set it up to send Instant messages to yahoo, msn messenger, etc.
