What do the stars mean on your profile?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Essentially, the stars are a ranking system. Yes, black belts very often have 4 stars, but the rankings apply to everyone. When you get chosen by an asker for a best answer, for instance, that person gets to rank the response on a 1-5 star scale. Direct questions also get ranked on the star scale. All of the rankings are compiled to create your overall composite star rating. A four star rating is really pretty good. Check out one of my recent answers at:

The ranking doesn't apply to voted best questions. I hope this helps!

I again.
Your star answer seems to make sense.
@bbrookin is right as right as rain. I found a place where you can view the number of ratings you have received overall. I took this screen shot from the Mahalo Widget in my blog.
