What do the degrees of color for snow mean on this weather chart?

For the map you have here the colors work out this way
Snow
dark gray - light snow
medium gray - medium snow
white - heavy snow
Rain
light green - light rain
medium green - medium rain
dark green - heavy rain
The convention works from left to right ie from light falls to heavy falls ( like in math the convetion is left to right )
