Louisville is the largest city in the U.S. state of Kentucky, and the county seat of Jefferson County. It has about 721,594 residents, with a population of 1,266,454 in the Louisville metropolitan area. There are a lot of attractions and areas of interest in the area, which is in the northern portion of Kentucky.
Kentucky is famous for its rolling hills and horse farms. Louisville is home to Churchill Downs, which is the most famous horseracing track in the United States and home of the Kentucky Derby. Going to the track is a must when in Louisville if not to play the horses then to appreciate the architecture of Churchill Downs.
Another famous landmark is the Butchertown neighborhood, which is designated a National Historic District. Here you can see the cottage where Thomas Edison lived when he worked for Western Union in 1886. Here are other historic buildings’ in the area as well.
