What is it that doctors will prescribe most for colds and flu? What do doctors say they take themselves? Are there any statistics on what works best when you have the flu?

Hi. Where I live, in Europe, most of our Dr.'s advise plenty of liquids, tea, honey, lemon, aspirin or paracetamol, to reduce fever). Bed rest, and staying home until it passes. Try to avoid going out in public places, and frequent hand washing is advisable, as not to spread germs. It's always miserable to have the flu, but when you are at home, sleep and keep warm. Have plenty of soups, and citrus fruit. They don't prescribe antibiotics, unless you develop chest infections, or pleurisy.
