Different types of currants have different flavors, but I've only tried the black ones.
Black Currants:
Sort of a sharply intense sweet and sour Concorde grape flavor. It's great in jams, jellies, bakery items. If you like strong black tea, try Black Currant Tea as it is one of my favorites (the currant infused black tea, not the herbal tea).

I have not tried the Red, White, Golden or Zante currants.
