I assume you're referring to NASA's Messenger probe which has already made 3 flybys of Mercury and will be placed in orbit in March 2011. Messenger has discovered that Mercury was much more volcanically active in its history than previously thought and in fact may well have been active up until a billion years ago, so some of its geological features are much younger than previously thought. Messenger also detected richer concentrations of iron on its surface making it a much more an iron planet than previously supposed.
