I think a lot of us go through life assuming that everyone thinks the way that we do and have the same moral or ethical framework, when in fact there are many fundamental issues that we disagree on.
Roe vs Wade gave women the right to choose what to do with their lives whether it affects the lives of others or not. I think whether you are pro-life or pro-choice you should accept each individual's right to choose how to handle a personal issue like pregnancy in a way that is best suited for them.
Women's rights took a big step forward during the arguments and the case decision. A woman's independence and ability to make choices for herself was also officially instated. No matter what decisions a woman makes, it is now her own based on her own sensibilities and situation, not to be decided by others- that is quite significant on many levels I think.
As this is the 37th anniversary of the decision, there has been a lot of press and argument on both sides of the issue- I think that is very healthy- to publicly debate these issues and reaffirm your own perspective on difficult subjects like this. I hope both sides can keep in mind that this issue is far from simple, there is no black-and-white truths as far as I can see.

M$A Texas woman sought to terminate her pregnancy. However, a Texas law made it a crime to procure or attempt an abortion except when the mother’s life would be in danger if she remained pregnant. Ms. Roe challenged the Texas law on the grounds that the law violated her right of personal liberty given in the Fourteenth Amendment and her right to privacy protected by the Bill of Rights.
THE ISSUE
Whether state law which bans or regulates abortion violates a woman’s right to privacy or personal choice in matters of family decisions or marriage.
ANALYSIS
While the main subject and the subsequent debate over the case was mainly abortion, the constitutional issue was the right to privacy--that is, the right of a woman to choose what to do with her body. On the other side was a prohibition against murder, which was the prevailing law.
The decision was not unanimous, two judges dissented the decision. But basically, through the use of Judaical Activism, the court allowed for a women to legal have an abortion of a pregnancy until the point of quickening, i think this is what its called, this is until you can physically feel the baby move. The court acted with little precedent, and interpreted parts of the Constitution to mean that this is part of a women's right to privacy. So basically, now a girl can sleep around and not have to worry about having a kid to deal with.
CONCLUSION:
Essentially, before the case, abortion was illegal. After this case, it was up to the choice of the pregnant woman.
