What classic video game would you like to see remade?

I was checking out the new Championship Edition Pac-Man, and it got me to wonder:

What games could use a comeback from the 80's?

My vote? Galaga!

The two games that come to mind for me are Super Off Road and GTA.

Yes, I know, GTA has been seen several sequels since the release of the original. But I'd be thrilled to see a remake that makes use of the top-down style from the first two games. The antics of GTA2 LAN games are some of the most fun I've had in all my years of gaming.

I think the best video to remake would be Contra or Double Dragon. If you ask any Nintendo player they will say Contra is one of their favorite video games to this day. Its just an awesome game to play. Same goes for Double Dragon.

I didn't feel like making an answer with this, but let's just say I'm really happy there bring Goldeneye back for the Wii.

Honestly? None of them. Pac Man Championship Edition was kind of a fluke; most of the time, re-makes miss out on the charm of the original. I can even make a Namco-made Pac-Man example: Pac Mania.

I'd love to see a remake of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I've played this game many, many times and I'll play it again and again as I get older.

I'd love to see a remake of the side-scrolling beat-em-up, Knights of the Round. Though game never really garnered much of a following or praise, it was pretty unique as an action-RPG hybrid. You went around as Lancelot, Arthur or Percival and the more baddies that you fought the better your armor and weapons became. I would alter the difficulty of some of the enemies and bosses, however. As with all 2D fighting games, there were just some enemies that were impossible to kill without losing a life or two.

Final Fantasy VII. I believe it should have been done years ago. It was sort of teased at a game expo a few years back but it turned out to be just a tech demo.

My preferences go to classic games that triumphed in the arcades and computers:
-Cabal

-Golden Axe (A good remake of the original, not of the sequels or second parties)
