What Chevy SUV is the best equipped farm vehicle?
We have a farm in which we have to haul trailers often. We have a [pick-up truck already but we want to get a Chevy SUV. We will be using it for the farm and for recreation too, so we need something as compact as possible, yet sturdy. It will need to have the capability to haul a small, simple tractor and livestock trailer. It would be best if it is 4 door, but we don't like the huge suburbans. Those are just too enormous. My mother can't drive something that large and she will be using it for grocery shopping. So which Chevy SUV would be able to handle these jobs without being overly large?

Chevrolet Tahoe - What the Auto Press Says
The 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe ranks 2 out of 10 Affordable Large SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of 53 published reviews and test drives of the Chevrolet Tahoe, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
If you need an SUV with plenty of seating and towing power, the Chevrolet Tahoe delivers. Easy-to-live-with handling and an inviting cabin are icing on the cake.
Most reviewers agree that for families who need plenty of seating, towing and foul-weather or off-road capability, the Chevrolet Tahoe is a compelling choice. Its comfortable and inviting interior is a reviewer favorite, and many say the Tahoe is surprisingly light on its feet for a large SUV. When it comes to large SUVs, most reviewers say it's tough to beat the Tahoe.
Still, there are a few complaints. The Tahoe's brawny towing capabilities mean that it uses a lot of gas. Also, its size can be a turn-off for some buyers. Though the Tahoe drives well for a large SUV, it still requires extra maneuvering space and driver attention. If you're used to driving a smaller SUV or a minivan, you may find that the Tahoe drives too big for your tastes. However, as Kelley Blue Book says, "If you have a number of children, tow a boat or horse trailer and like the feel of a substantial V8-powered vehicle, the 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe could be just the ticket."
Other SUVs to Consider
If you only need the Tahoe's seating capacity and not its towing abilities, consider a large crossover like the Ford Flex or Chevrolet Traverse. They provide similar seating capacities but aren't as thirsty as the Tahoe and are somewhat easier to drive. Plus, they have lower starting prices. However, if you haul a lot of people, tow heavy loads or go off-road, reviewers say the Toyota Sequoia is a worthy competitor to the Tahoe. Though its starting price is about $2,000 higher than the Tahoe's, it offers more cargo space, and some reviewers think it's more refined.

The Chevrolet Tahoe was last redesigned in 2007, and changes for 2010 are minimal. The 5.3 liter engine is now flex fuel capable, meaning it can run on gasoline an E85 ethanol. A USB port is now standard; the port allows stored music files to be played through the Tahoe's stereo and charges some handheld devices. Later in 2010, a high-gas-mileage XFE trim will be introduced, but if you really want to save on fuel, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid may be a better choice, provided you can handle the price premium. "A Traverse can't traverse a mountain attached to a 7,000-pound camper. A Flex isn't flexible enough to seat nine people. The pilot of a Pilot isn't going to be very willing to tackle a rocky trail. Sometimes you need an SUV that can deliver the macho-truck goods that a crossover cannot. Sometimes you need the 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe." -- Edmunds
"Chevrolet Tahoe continues to be one of the best full-size SUV values on the market." -- Kelley Blue Book
"More than ever worthy of serious consideration for buyers still in the market for a big SUV despite rising gasoline prices." -- Newsday
