What causes the food in the freezer to form the icy coating when it is a frost free freezer?

M$When freezer foods are in different temperatures, they start to sweat and melt, then there is moisture in the bag, box or whatever. When it refreezes there will be this icy mess on the food and packaging. My parents freezer is a no frost and from my son opening the door, theirs will frost up something horrible. It can also happen when the seals are not good around the door, or the freezer is not working properly.
One other thing is when you don't use food quickly or get older items from the store. It gets freezer burn.
