What carrier has the best prepaid phone plans

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think this really depends on how you use it.

Several carriers have a plan that charges you a flat rate then you use the minutes. Long distance can sometimes use more minutes faster.

AT&T has a plan that only charges you a flat rate on the day you use the phone, then a per minute charge.. but no per minute charge if you call other AT&T users. That can work the best if you have other family or friends also with AT&T. Or they also have a plan that just charges more per minute but no flat rate per day used.

TracFone, Virgin Mobile... they all have their own little quirky terms, and you really will have to find a plan that fits your lifestyle, just as you would if you were subscribing to a monthly service.

I have used several in the past, and changed companies to suit my needs of the time.

Hi there!

Here's an article on how Virgin Mobile stacks up against other prepaid providers, if prepaid is something of interest to you:

You can check out Virgin Mobile's plans and phones at VirginMobileUSA.com.

I hope this helps and good luck with your research.

There's lots of other good options out there, and many of them mentioned in answers already so I'll just mention the one that works best for me.

Tmobile recently added their "Even More Plus" plans. These work just like contract plans in billing, but do not require a contract. The 500 minute with unlimited text, and unlimited internet is only 59.99/mo.*** This works great for me because I don't talk alot on my phone, but I do use a ton of text and love surfing on my phone.

The only bummer with this is that you don't get any discounts or deals on the phone hardware. Because you are not locked into a contract, Tmobile doesn't give you the discounted rate on phones.

Right now I am paying nearly $70 a month for my wife's phone with 400 minutes and unlimited text and NO internet. As soon as her contract with ATT expires, I'll switch her to this plan. Cheaper, no contract, and adding internet.

**This plan would be ideal for a unlocked iPhone***

If you would want a good provider for local phone numbers then check out feature-packed plan from RingCentral.
