What can we do to be pro active in protecting our kids from this flu? I understand the hand washing and avoiding other sick people, but...

I hate feeling like a sitting duck. I'm in Eastern Wa state. So far there has been only one confirmed around here but I feel like taking the kids out of School now instead of waiting for it to come here. I've been pushing the Orange juice, hand sanitizers etc. Maybe doing my grocery shopping at Midnight from now on. How are others dealing with this?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Good answer above. As of now, there are 339 cases in the US and 1149 worldwide. IT ISNT AS BIG OF A DEAL IN THE USA because we have nearby and efficient hospitals/doctors. Its hard to come across that in third world countries like Mexico.

Protect your children from the swine flu as you would the regular food. Reinforce hygiene and make sure they are listening. My family has difficulty doing that at times : /

Symptoms and effects are also similar to the regular flu. It's often mistaken for seasonal allergies that seem to be budding around this time of the year.

I hope I helped; have a great day and stay safe!!!

The most important thing you can do is not panic. At this point swine flu has caused one death in the U.S. Regular flu has killed 13,000 people since January. Even taking into account that 90% of those who died were over 65 that still means1,300 deaths in the non elderly. If your kids were in school last week why would you take them out this week?
