What can I do on a day-to-day basis to protect myself from identity theft?
Identity theft is, or at least it should be, a real concern among all people. I know that criminals can take advantage of information registered to certain illegitimate-appearing websites. It's obvious never to give away passwords or credit card numbers and to have updated and effective security software for computers. But what other tips can you give me that will help secure my confidentiality? Will credit card companies give me information about this when I apply for a credit card? Should I be cautious when online-shopping, even for reputable sites like Amazon? How do most identity thieves get their information? Any info will be helpful. Thanks!

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.
