What can I do about my laptop (out of warranty) with a case that shocks me? And about how much would it cost?
It's a sony Vaio VGN CR 4000-- with a penryn processor and 4gb of memory. It's a nice rig that should have plenty more life in it, so I would rather not scrap it... but what else can I do?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I actually have this problem with a laptop I bought back in Nov 2008. I recommend the cheap fix of either a grounding bracelet or grounding mat.

I don't understand. How does it work? Also, this isn't static build-up. It is actually "hot." You can't put your hands on it without being shocked.
