One of the best ways to spice up your burger is to season your ground beef before cooking or grilling it. I’ve tried lots of different combinations but after much trial and error, this recipe is bar far the most delicious:
2 pounds premium ground beef
1 onion, finely chopped
3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1 jalapeño pepper, deveined, deseeded, and finely chopped
5 crimini mushrooms, de-stemmed and finely chopped
1/2 C pepper jack or Muenster cheese, grated
1 egg
3 Tbsp flour
3 Tsp Soy Sauce
1 1/2 Tbsp Salt
Preparation:
In a little bit of olive oil, sauté garlic, onion, mushrooms, and jalapeño pepper. Remove from heat. In a large mixing bowl, add ground beef, sautéed veggies, soy sauce, salt, and egg. Mix gently with your hands until all ingredients are fully incorporated in the meat. Add grated cheese and flour and mix a little more. Grill or cook, browning the burger on both sides and until desired.
Enjoy!

My mom used to make something she called "stretch burgers". If we did not seem to have enough hamburger to make burgers for everyone she'd add some extra stuff to them. These were the most delicious hamburgers I ever ate in my life!

They were light and tasty, did not seem as chewy as a hamburger, yet very thick and juicy.

Here is how she did it:

1 lb ground beef
1 egg
1 cup dried oats/rice/cracker crumbs (any one of these)
2 TBLS Worchestershire Sauce
1/3 cup chopped onions
salt, pepper, garlic to taste

Mix all that stuff together, make patties, and grill the meat. It is kind of like a meatloaf, but you do not add the tomato based sauces. It tastes just like a burger with flavor. You can substitute your favorite steak sauce for Worchestershire Sauce, too!

As my esteemed colleague mentions, Lipton's Onion Soup has a recipe right on the box.

If you like interesting flavors like curry or even nutmeg or ginger, you can add some to your hamburger meat before you cook it. Any seasoning you would put on your steak can work in your burger.

I DO A REALLY SIMPLE THING WITH HAMBURGER MEAT FOR HAMBURGERS. I ADD A SMALL AMOUNT OF A MIXTURE OF CATSUP AND RED WINE...JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE THE MEAT MOIST.
THIS ENHANCES THE FLAVOR AND MAKES THE MEAT TASTE "EXPENSIVE".

STRANGE, BUT IT WORKS. DO THIS FOR MEAT LOAF TOO.ADD WHAT EVER ELSE YOU LIKE (CHPD ONIONS, GARLIC, CHOPPED LEEKS OR OLIVES) AND ENJOY!

Hi Mmng23,

Hamburgers are actually one of the most versatile dishes out there. Typical additions to hamburgers include Lipton Onion Soup Mix, Tabasco sauce, chopped onions, Worcestershire Sauce, salt and pepper. Personally, I like to add onion powder, garlic powder, a pinch of salt, ground pepper, chili pepper flakes, dried parsley and little sugar. Then, I mix all of these ingredients together with ground beef. Next, I make patties from this mixture and grill them. They are delicious!

Now, if you are looking for others, here are great sites for hamburger recipes:

http://www.hamburger-recipes-and-more.com
http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Meat-and-Poultry/Beef/Hamburgers/Top.aspx

Currently that site offer several different kinds of hamburgers. There are recipes for Inwood Hamburgers, Espresso Rubbed Barbecued Burgers, Chipotle Cheeseburgers, Bacon Wrapped Hamburgers, Ranch Burgers, Cream Cheese Jalapeno Hamburgers and Bronco Burgers!

Burgers are great because you can add lots of things to make them taste amazing. A lot of people use Lowry’s Seasoned Salt (also known as Season All) on their burgers or just a bit of cracked pepper and garlic. My personal favorite hamburger add-in is actually Lipton dry Onion Soup mix, which conveniently has the mixing proportions printed on the side of the box. Just in case you don’t grab one that doesn't though, or if you want to go generic, here it is:

1 envelope dry onion soup mix
2 pounds ground beef
½ cup water

You just mix all that up in a bowl, shape into 8 patties and cook like normal. Sometimes I cut up some fresh onion to add for texture and top the burgers with sautéed onions, but that’s not really necessary.
