What can cause a laptop LCD screen to crack?

I bought an Acer Laptop about 5 months ago. It has developed a crack on the outside of the LCD screen. I have no idea what caused it. It is on the outside bottom right hand side. It is causing the LCD screen to change colors from pink to deep blue and some other different colors. I keep trying to adjust the screen but it barely helps restore the LCD to the proper color. I did not buy a warranty. What did cause a laptop LCD screen to crack? What can I do and could this screen get worse if I don't fix it?
Thanks.

ANY flexing of the screen can cause the thin plastic films to rupture allowing the LIQUID crystal to leak within the screen.
You have ended up with uneven pressure being applied to one corner of your screen. Push your finger on any other portion and you'll see what I mean.
What will happened ? Your screen will start to turn a variety of different colors and needs to be replaced
If you're looking of buying a laptop you should check out this site first http://www.screencountry.com. I got my Acer Lcd screens from them for $90 including shipping. I am the furthest thing from a "techie" and yet I was able to find the correct monitor, order it, remove the broken screen and replace it with the new one. I was pleased and the price was right too! Good Luck to you.

Did you carry your laptop by holding onto the top of the screen? This can cause the screen to crack. Also LCD screen can crack due to a large temperature. LCD screens are vulnerable. Luckily, it is surprisingly easy to replace even if you are not a technical person. Since most laptop manufacturers charge so much, you may try to find third-party companies on the market that are selling laptop screens. Some places carry a large inventory of a brand new LCD panel replacement for every major notebook manufacturer. If you are unable to find a particular model listed on their website then you can call or email to ask if they can help you find a screen replacement for a particular laptop.
