What can be done to free the beers?
A large police raid in Pennsylvania on 3 upscale beer bars seized thousands of dollars worth of good beer because of an antiquated law requiring each named brew to be registered with the state. In all other ways the beers were fully legal; but, these days there are many thousands of brews, and they change quite rapidly.

People are complaining about the waste of police resources, but what about the beer?!

"After the raids, Maida and Hartranft compared the list of confiscated brands with the 2,800-plus registered beers listed on the Liquor Control Board's Web site. They discovered that more than half the beer seized had been legally registered, but the cops weren't able to identify it because of their unfamiliarity with the products and their labels."
Un..believable! All too often bar owners, and brewers are at the mercy of distributors. Now they can't count on products which they have legally purchased. Some of the alcohol laws in PA are a little strange, but I think this one is common. I believe there are similar laws in other states, NY for example.
As for freeing the beer, I suspect those in charge of the evidence locker will be freeing (oops, I mean misplacing) it sometime soon.
