What breeds of dog are used as guide dogs or service animals?
I have seen different breeds of dogs used as guide dogs for the blind. Few months back I was surprised to see a Labradoodle serving as a guide dog. I didn’t know that small dogs could also be used as service dogs. I guess I am used to seeing Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers and German Shepherds. Are there other dog breeds that are used as guides for the blind or as service animals?

Guide Dogs of America uses Labrador Retrievers 70% of the time, Golden Retrievers 15% of the time, and German Shepherds 15% of the time. The Labrador Retrievers are use most because they find them to be the most successful breed to use for guide dogs.
