What became of the Coffee Party?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I have an impression of grass roots organizations that is for the most part disorganized. Not that my impression is disorganized but the organizations that call themselves and/or are grass roots (dis)organizations themselves. They seem to jump up with a yelp and then disappear into the reality quagmire of being an actual, active, and growing... grass roots organization.
It looks like the Coffee Party has suffered from a similar fate. A distinct lack of even a Glenn Beck level celebrity to speak with them or on their behalf can't help much. I have not seen a single network news broadcast cycle go by in the past few weeks that even mentioned the Coffee Party either.
Alan Markow from the California Independent Voter Network says something interesting about the Coffee Party pledge that makes sense to me and I agree with.
Coffee Party Pledge
"As a member or supporter of the Coffee Party, I pledge to conduct myself in a way that is civil, honest, and respectful toward people with whom I disagree. I value people from different cultures, I value people with different ideas, and I value and cherish the democratic process."
And Alan Markow's reply?
"It reminds me of the ideal slogan for a mediocre company: We’re no worse than anyone else."
Bingo.
No teeth, no passion, and an overall lackluster and uninspiring bite this pledge defines a typical lazy and complacent voter who has a good or even a great idea but not the fortitude or even the organizational skills to let it fly for longer that that first breath of refreshing new idea air.
What does this statement from the Coffee Party's website even mean?
"The Coffee Party’s long-term focus is to develop, replicate, and sustain an effective method of engagement."
John Stewart? Helps or hurts with his October 30th "Rally to Restore Sanity" in Washington DC jacking the Coffee Party's ideals with a Stewart recommended placard saying as "“I may disagree with you, but I don’t think you’re a Nazi.” and in combination with Comedy Central's opposing rally a conjunction with Stephen Colbert the"March To Keep Fear Alive" have effectively cut the nuts of the Coffee Party with humor.
I'd love to see a real deal 3rd and even a 4th political party but the Coffee Party seems to me like a good idea with not enough bravery attached to it. The distinct lack of real balls and real conflict will be the demise of the party IMHO. America likes to fight and anger is a gift. Annabel Park has neither the spunk or the American drive to win to put the fire under the shoes of this well intended grass roots political party. I feel America wants to fight for what it wants politically and for the most part is willing to do so. Clever ideas and idealistic speeches are not much without a real fight behind them.

Good to see you around again @philipy we are not the same without you :)
What I was trying to get at with my personal analysis of the Coffee Party is that they have become a non-issue and but for the most die-hard Coffee Party supporters (read Annabel Park) they have faded into news less worthy oblivion.
The Coffee Party had a convention in September at Louisville Kentucky.

This source from the Miami Herald - http://bit.ly/aK1bZ9 - now leads to a 404 error. "Unfortunately we are unable to locate the page you have requested." and that is exactly what became of the Coffee Party.
Unable to even keep the attention of the nation for a second due to the lack of passion (read anger) behind their party and their founder Annabel Park.
Most unfortunately for the Coffee Party is that their mission is to lead a more civil discourse in politics, a smart and intellectually fascinating idea, but without passion no one gets fired up and if no one is fired up than.. well... no one is fired up.
Co-founder of the Coffee Party Eric Byler says this smartly “It takes more work,” he says. “It really does. It takes discipline to look at an issue not through the prism of a political party or a news entertainment program, but through your own intelligence.”
Intelligent? Yes.
Worth investigating? Yes.
Good for the country? Probably
But without the passion more traditional political parties in the US have the Coffee Party will always look like the whiny wimpy intellectual kid on the playground that will not fight to be next on the swing set.
The Coffee Party, if it wants to survive, thrive? and be taken seriously by more than the handful of relatively obscure intellectuals that have bought in, has to pick a fight and demand their turn on the swing set. Otherwise they will stay the tattletale little wimpy kid who never gets to play in the American political party playground.
The Coffee Party should attack Glenn Beck with everything smart they have. Really pick a media fight and make news with their spin on the facts, figures, statistics, and popular opinions. That would show America they are serious.
I also agree with @coltech88 and would say this situation where a new political party cannot be taken seriously and really make the news without attacking someone and starting a inter-party fight is sub-par for our species but like it or not that is the reality of mainstream politics.
Yes, sad but true. The motivational aspect of anger seems to be a central driving force of politics, of whatever nation. It is also sad to think that, if you are calm and reasonable and respecting of others, you don't appear to stand for anything. Perhaps it is a reflection that we really haven't evolved much over our primate cousins.
I see that the top link says...

There’s not a single Glenn Beck-level celebrity there. Instead, we have people of substance that no one has ever heard of.

I don't know if the people mentioned are indeed people of substance, but it is depressing that being loud and being a celebrity seems to be necessary for attracting attention.
Was hoping to hear some actual facts about "what became of the Coffee Party" though, more than an analysis of it.

Nice to be appreciated. Actually I've been checking in most days, but I don't see a lot interesting happening so I check right out again.
> sub-par for our species
Par for our species doesn't appear to be very high. :)
Or should that be... :(
