What area grows better grapes for wine? New York? California?
I see vineyards all over the place. All states seem to have them. What state or country produce better wine? Is there some place I should focus on for really great wine? Affordablility is also a big thing. Which of these is most affordable and delicious?

You're correct Lisa... there are wineries all throughout the U.S., but one area that has dominated the market are the valleys of Sonoma and Napa. And both are in California.
The reason this area is so special is the climate, geography and geology. I'm sure there are small pockets of land throughout the US that can make a great wine too... but not at the volume of these two valleys.
I still like to check out and support local wineries where ever I am, and I think you'll find some great deals at them too. I recently went to visit Perdido Vineyards, which is just north east of Mobile Bay, and I learned quite a bit of history about the area and took home a nice bottle of Morengo. http://www.examiner.com/wine-in-mobile/perdido-vineyards-captures-alabama-history-its-wine
I still think that you can get a great deal on California wine, no matter where you are in the country... but I also encourage people to search out your local winemakers and vineyards. You can learn so much more by going to the source, try a wine tasting and hear it directly from the source!
