I think it's great that a transitioning transgender female to male is able to have a child before any replacement surgery has been done. The man (born a woman) that had the two children stopped the testosterone and was able to have two children for her and her partner. Some transitioning female to male transgenders do not get replacement surgery because the technique for creating a penis is not as advanced as the process of turning a penis into a vagina. Because of this they still have the capability of having children (if they were able to before the transition began). Hormones have to be stopped in order to do this, however. I used to live in Trinidad, CO where two to three replacement surgeries, male to female, were done every week. Dr. Biber (no deceased) was famous for his work with transgenders. When I worked at the hospital I met several of the transgenders that came to town for the surgery. One of my best friends was a pioneer and had the surgery 23 years ago. She says that's when her life finally began. It is wonderful that these surgeries are available to help them have a more normal life. It is fascinating how they do the surgery but I won't go into detail here.
