What are your thoughts on a Footloose remake?

Now, I might be one of a few who is waiting to see what they are going to do for the Footloose Remake. After the remakes of Fame(which I heard was bad) and Hairspray (which I loved) I'm intrigued on what they are going to do with this classic dance movie. I love the original and it’s one of my husband’s favorite movies so I'm hoping they don't mess up the remake.

Now there is word that a newcomer, Kenny Wormald is going to be playing the lead which was originally offered to Zac Effron and Chace Crawfod. He has had dancing roles in You Got Served and Center Stage: Turn It Up. Julianne Hough is still the lead female. Dennis Quaid will be playing the reverend.

I think a remake of Footloose would be absolutely nuts! I mean, they ruin everything else when the remake it, why mess with a classic! Look what they did to the Karate Kid! I mean, Will Smith's son is cute and all, but does it really compare with Ralph Macchio's films? Not by far! Remaking this film would be like trying to remake The Outsiders. It's just not going to be good.

In regards to the new film, I have to wonder about the new lead, Kenny Wormald. Can he not only fill Kevin Bacon's shoes, but bring this story to a whole new level? On that same note though, I'm glad to hear that Mr High School Musical Zac Efron had to drop the lead. He drives me crazy, and not in a good way.

Another question I have is how are they going to destroy the storyline? Setting the film in Beaumont, Texas doesn't really make sense anymore, as it's not the small sleepy town it was back in the day. On the other hand, certain aspects of the film won't make sense unless it is there.

What are they going to do next, remake the Wizard of Oz? Oh no, let's remake The Sound of Music too while we're at in.

Insane!
