What are your thoughts of a Mosque being built just blocks from where the World Trade Center once stood?

M$I'm not disgusted by it, but I think it's pretty ballsy to have the mosque officially opened on September 11, 2011.
I can definitely understand the rage associated with a mosque now being tied to Ground Zero, but I've always wondered why people react so much against something so hard, even before they do not see the final product yet.
I also feel like the people who are behind building this mosque didn't think over their use of this tragedy to promote religion and cultural relations too well.

M$I think the real controversy will come if the mosque starts playing there service through loudspeakers like in the Dearborn Mosque.
"There was a court ruling to allow the calling for prayers to be transmitted through outside speakers. It was the first mosque in the United States to be allowed to transmit call prayers through loudspeakers."
I'm hoping NYC is a little more open minded, people thought they were being brainwashed, but when they hear church bells they think nothing of it.

M$For starters no it is not a step in the right direction, they can build elsewhere there is no need for it to go up at ground zero, and definitely should NOT be opened on the anniversary of 9-11. What you're saying makes it sound like you would agree if Nazi's went into Israel and put up a statue to Hitler.
I know not all Muslims are at fault for what happened that day but that doesn't mean a Mosque should be allowed anywhere near ground zero.
As for the Dearborn thing I live near Dearborn and get disgusted every time I go into the city and hear their call to prayer. Of course I am also one of many Christians that are sick and tired of this country bending over backwards and having our rights taken away, just so we don't insult someone. Yeah okay whatever you can bet there is no way we could go to their country and get all the rights they do here, nor would you not be expected to learn the language.
People come to America because it is based on freedom yet they come in and take our freedoms away, ones that anyone who has ever served in the military has and still are fighting to keep, they have died and been wounded some physically disabled permanently, while some will always remember and never be the same.
I hope NYC comes to its senses and stops this from happening, and if that don't happen I would be willing to bet that it doesn't stand for long. New Yorkers don't take kindly to what happened on 9-11 and neither should anyone else.
