Just before Christmas this year, my husband's grandmother developed pneumonia and had to be hospitalized. While she was in rehab, she got up to use the bathroom, and slipped and fell, and broke her hip. Because she has bad kidneys from a hereditary illness, the doctors couldn't give her anesthesia to operate and fix it. So she's living in the rehab center permanently.
So the family, thinking her husband will probably want to join her there or move, decided to hold one last Christmas at the old place. So it was very special for everyone to be in the home where some of them have 50 years of memories. The youngest grandchild has never had Christmas there before, but for some of the older ones, it was a special night.
This morning, we got up and exchanged gifts and saw all the international goodies Santa collected from all around the world to put in our stockings (he does that, you know--he disguises himself and shops in candy/pastry shops from Tokyo and Australia to Munich and Paris). We're going to go visit Grandma in the rehab center after a bit, and then go to my mother-in-law's house for a bit on the way back. My side's a distance away and our celebration is on another day this year.
I hope you're all having a good Christmas if you celebrate it!

M$My children are coming with my grand children, tonight and tomorrow, then on Sunday which is my dad b-day, my entire tribe is going to make the long trek to Boston Massachusetts, to meet with the tribes of my impossibly large family. All umpteen hundreds of neices, nephews, grands, great-grands, and cousins of my father will be up there all day Sunday. And a family of ladies 6 of which are professional chefs are going to cook, obscenely delicious food and the men are going to tell the children far-fetched tales of their days of old and football games they really watched but they remembered playing.
Laughter will happen, and I will stay outrageously busy, listening to why my uncle who is 49 years old is married to a 21 year old girl, or how my aunt went to the school and cussed out Mrs so and so for calling my nephew stupid and saying he should only aspire to being a telephone repair man, to which my aunt promptly replied they make a lot more than teachers do. LOL.
We will kiss dozens of babies 4 of which are my grandchildren, and smile a lot. It will be the same as last year but so much fun. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas like mine

M$This is video of some of the Blue Man Group show at the Charles Playhouse, it's not mine (it's from a month ago) but despite verbal and written agreements between the theater and the ticket holders NOT to use any type of photographic equipment and/or video recorders of any kind under threat of "Ejector Seat" usage some folks still insist on grabbing some video footage. Enjoy ;)
